2.5-inch knife removed from Saif Ali Khan's spine after intruder attack
His 8-year-old son, Taimur Ali Khan, rushed the Bollywood star to hospital with caretaker’s help
MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan faced a terrifying ordeal early Thursday morning when an intruder entered his Bandra residence and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
The shocking incident occurred at approximately 2:30AM in the upscale Satguru Sharan building, in Mumbai’s Bandra, where Khan resides with his family.
Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his eight-year-old son, Taimur Ali Khan, and a caretaker.
How is Saif Ali Khan now?
According to Dr Nitin Dange, the actor sustained six injuries, including a critical wound in his thoracic spinal cord caused by a 2.5-inch knife piece lodged in his spine.
“Saif Ali Khan was admitted with a major spinal injury. The knife was removed, and leaking spinal fluid was repaired. He also underwent plastic surgeries for wounds on his hand and neck,” Dr Dange explained to reporters.
Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that the actor sustained two deep wounds, two intermediate injuries, and two abrasions. “He is stable, recovering well, and expected to make a 100% recovery,” he added. Khan remains in the ICU for observation, ANI reports.

The intruder allegedly gained access to the 11th-floor apartment via a fire escape staircase. When confronted by the actor’s maid, the situation escalated. Saif, trying to protect his family, intervened, resulting in a physical altercation.
According to Mumbai Police DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, “It appears to be a robbery attempt. We are reviewing CCTV footage and working to apprehend the suspect.”

Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who was not home during the incident, released a statement urging fans to refrain from speculation. “Saif is undergoing a procedure and is stable. The rest of the family is safe,” it read.
Khan’s family has rallied around him. His sons Taimur and Jehangir, along with elder daughter Sara Ali Khan, who is also a Bollywood star, are by his side at the hospital.

The Bandra Police have launched a full-scale investigation, detaining three building attendants for questioning. Preliminary findings suggest a single intruder orchestrated the attack. Authorities are combing through surveillance footage to identify the suspect and determine how they breached security.
